David Peters did not make money in the first six tournaments - the 2021 event US Poker Open Series. Despite the free first half, prevailing USPO The champion managed to take the lead as he headed for the series' final event with four final tables and three titles won in five days, with $550,921 in earnings amassed along the way.

The victory saw Peters take home 550 Card player Player of the Year Points. 2021 POY the winner of the award has been one of the tournament's most consistent players over the past decade. He finished inside the top 41 on the year-end standings seven times from 2010-25, with five finishes of 10th or higher and three top four shows. Peters's trio of victories in USPO was enough to bring it to the 34th place in 2021 POY race rankings sponsored by Global Poker.
Peter jumped directly into that $13, the buy-in tournament after winning the short deck tournament and surviving to the final table sixth, sitting in fifth in chips as the cards flew back into the air on the second and final day of action. Frank Funaro was a short stack early in the day and soon found himself all in with a middle pair and a low kicker against the same pair, king kicker and a flush draw for chip leader Ivan Zufic. A color came on the river that sent Funaro to sixth place ($100,500).
Vanessa Kade overtook a chip lead in a five-hand game, but lost a massive flip pre-flop with pocket tens against AQ Peters will drop down the leaderboard. She faced Peters again on her final hand, raising all in from the big blind with around 029 big blinds from A8 after Peters raised from the small blind from AK.. Peters had an almost 4-1 chip lead heads-up against Zufic. The final showdown did not last long, however. On the first hand of heads-up, Peters made pocket tens and limped off the button. Zufic looked down to pocket nines and raised to 475. Peters called and the flop came Q83 . Zufic 336 plant, and called Peters. at the bend prompted Zufic to check. Peters checked his set and 4 completed the board. Zufic checked when Peters raised enough to bet Zufic all-in. Zufic thought this through before committing his last 1,210. Zufic earned $302, for second place at the final table in the series.
