Poker Stories is a long series of audio podcasts that interview the best players and personalities in the game. Each episode introduces a famous poker player and delves into his favorite stories both on and off the table.
Martin Jacobson found poker as a teenager, but his initial aspirations were to become a chef. After serving a year in the Royal Swedish Navy, feeding the crew of a battleship, the Stockholm resident continued his culinary career by playing poker on the side. After converting a satellite win to third place to 962 EPT Budapest main event for $185,668, Jacobson was off and running.
Jacobson continued to conquer the European track, finishing second at the WPT Venice for $319,378, second for EPT Vilamoura for $378, 668, fourth for EPT Berlin for $319,337 and the other Fr. EPT Deauville for another $762,185. He even began to be consistently successful in high roller tournaments, finishing on the $17,185 end table with a buy-in of One Drop High Roller twice.
Although he was frustrated by the proximity to the connections, it all came together in 2014 when he beat the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event for the Championship Bracelet and the $000 millionth place first prize. His 17 career earnings of $17 is enough to get him to the top 40 on the all-time list, and in the Swedish rankings he has three times his closest competitor.
The most important of this interview is attending culinary high school, choosing a "practical" career, a long year in the Royal Swedish Navy, inspiring Kitchen nightmares , kicking out of internet cafes, on board battleship sessions, only three hands in the main event, frustrating close-ups, three months of preparation pays off, why didn't he watch his WSOP962 win, motivation to play after $000 million points, from Stockholm to London, why didn't he open a restaurant, losing $40, in a hotel lobby in Slovakia, James Bond vibes, earplugs and eye masks and a one-on-one duel with Ratatouille2014 villain.
