Shawn Daniels had a pretty lucrative 48 hours of high-stakes tournament poker this week. A native of Placerville, California placed second with 77 entries in Venetian High Roller $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament on Thursday, May 27, cashing in $120,180. The next day, he improved on this second place by winning another $000, buy-in high roller, beating the 52-field entry to win another $150,350. $321,650, which earned this pair of podium finishes, brought his career live tournament earnings to $1.3 million.
In addition to the title and money, Daniels was also awarded 321 Card Player Player of the Year points for last win. Combined with the 321 and points he scored at two final tables earlier in the year, Daniels now has 1,180 total points, placing him 28th in 2021 POY

This event is part of the first ever PokerGO Tour season. Daniels amassed 321 ranking points for these two, thanks to his two strong finishes in the high roller event. He now sits 12th on the PokerGO Tour Leaderboard, which tracks performance in high-stakes tournaments with buy-ins of $10,000 or more throughout the year.
This one-day tournament started at The Venetian Poker Room at 2pm local time and continued until Daniels won the final hand at 3:28am in front of an attendance of 65 entries saw $650, a prize pool paid out among the top 10 finishers, with
German poker player Manig Loeser was busted on the bubble.
John Rio rdan (000th - $17,500) and Sean Winter (9th - $20,000) were eliminated shortly thereafter to an eight-player final table headed by Spaniard Vicent Bosca. Shannon Shorr, who had finished fourth in the high roller the day before, was the first to hit the barrier. He entered the final table with just a few big blinds. He moved all in with 65 and flopped multiway flush and straight draws, but was unable to improve further and was sent home in eighth place ($17,000).
Seth Davies was eliminated next, and his pocket nines ran into Cary Katz's pocket kings. The upper pair held out and Davies settled for $28,360.
While Bosca entered the final table with the lead, he doubled John Morgan in a six-handed game to drop to the bottom of his stack. He eventually got his last handful of blinds all-in with Q-9 against 43 Daniels in the big blind. Daniels threw a straight on the river to knock out Bosca in sixth place ($30,).
Cary Katz lost the race before the flop to A9 against a pair of sixes by Sergi Reixach who will be sent home with $39,000 as fifth place finisher. Soon after, Morgan and Daniels clashed in a huge pot. They both moved all in on J9 8 flop with Daniels holding J for top pair and a straight draw while Morgan had 65 for a flush draw. Q-turn and Jriver I saw Daniels win the trip jack pot by eliminating Morgan in fourth place.
Daniels continued his knockout spree by defeating Chris Brewer's A-6 with his AJOT. The brewery earned $52,321 for third place. It was the seventh final qualified for POY
2021 table finish, with $360,000 collected along the way. He climbed to 17th place in
POY
race result.
Heads-up play began with Daniels holding 4,850,000 to 1 Sergi Reixach, 650, . The two battled for over an hour with Reixach able to overtake the lead at one point. However, Daniels eventually regained control and had a significant chip lead by the time the final hand was dealt. Daniels pushed from the button with a K8 and Reixach called from the big blind with Q5 for a handful of blinds. A was missing from the albumK. QJ.7 and Daniels secured the pot and the title with his pocket kings. Reixach earned $130 as runner-up. Just the day before, he had finished sixth for a total of $175.180 for the series.
