This year's World Series of Poker it has been postponed to fall, but tournaments in Las Vegas are still plentiful all summer long, with other properties running a series of tournaments with huge prize pools.

Long-time professional poker player Jonathan Tamayo won one of the first big tournaments of the season, scoring a $ 237,935 at the Wynn Summer Classic. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Houston resident beat a staggering 1,720 entries in $1, a 67 no-limit hold'em tournament for a six-figure total and a trophy.

Tamayo beat the final table in which he participated World Poker Tour champion Frank Stepuchin and successful East Coast grinder Michael Azzaro, who finished eighth and sixth respectively. Tamayo defeated Jorge Arrioc heads-up to take the title.

In the tournament, the guaranteed prize pool of $ 1 million was easily crushed. With 1,556 entries on three starting flights, the tournament generated $1.67 million pool awards.
